2012 The State Of The Station

Friends, listeners, country music artists... the state of the station is very good. Max, Shannon and Porkchop continue to wake up the people of Tucson with free money every morning, plus concert tickets and other prizes, news, weather traffic from Kricket the Head Traffic Ranger, and lots of music. Cactus Dave plays your requests at lunch each day, and there's a guy in the afternoon we're trying to get rid of. Plus we're helping improve the economy by hiring some new sales people... call 887-1000 to find out more.

During the last year we have seen what can be accomplished when we work together. For example, we learned that if we request a Chris Young song and it goes to #1, I won't have to eat a shoe.

We learned that for the 2nd year in a row, channel 4 is better at basketball than the KIIM crew.

and we learned that if you say not nice things on the internet about Scotty McCreery, the internet bites back.

In 2011 we gave about about a zillion dollars, plus trips and lots of other cool stuff.

Some might call this a good record. I call it a good start. Tonight I pledge that in 2012 we will continue to exceed your expectations for country music and fun.

Barrett Jackson classic car auction

Spent the day at the Barrett Jackson auction in Scottsdale. Loved all the old classic cars... and the occasional weird rusted hulk of a car. Apparently the rusted ones have value because they are in 'original condition.' I guess it's great for someone who wants a project.

This green one was one of the pristine restored cars. Love the hood ornament. Lots of these in great colors.

...and we STILL don't know what he is...

For Christmas, Dena and I gifted each other with a DNA test to see if we could determine what breeds make up our dog Wrangler. Tonight we got the results of our Doggie DNA test back, and it turns out that Wrangler is 1/4 Golden Retriever, 1/4 Beagle, and 1/2 a mishmash of other breeds (they couldn't determine with any reliability what they were, but they guessed at: Belgian Tervuren, Pug, Maltese, Entlebucher Mountain Dog and Chinook).
